Stretching an incredible 62 scenic miles, the Pine Creek Rail Trail winds through the Appalachian Mountains in Lycoming and Tioga counties within the eastern side of the Pennsylvania Wilds.
Named Pennsylvania’s 2026 Trail of the Year, the trail traces a historic corridor first used by the Iroquois Nation and later developed as a railroad in the 19th century. Today, the trail welcomes bikers, hikers, walkers, horseback riders, and cross-country skiers. With more than 44,000 visitors each year, it has become a premier destination for outdoor recreation, fly fishing along Pine Creek, and trail-camping adventures.
A recent 3.2-mile extension now connects the trail directly to downtown Wellsboro, making it easier than ever to explore.
If you haven’t ridden or hiked the Pine Creek Rail Trail yet, 2026 might be the perfect year to check it out!
