After enjoying the 2026 National Scout Jamboree our Scouts from Nevada and Alaska loaded up and headed for Washington, DC. On the way, they had to visit Buc-ee's. At the end of their time in DC, they were stamped and shipped home via airmail.

Lady Nancy headed to upstate New York clean. Although it was a nice drive, a lot of bugs met the windshield on the highway. After a wash at the hotel, Lady Nancy is ready to pick up our group tomorrow and take them home to Maryland.

The last day of the first part of our time with Scouts from Alaska and Nevada began with loading up to head to The Summit for the National Jamboree. A stop for supplies was made and the group was dropped off successfully for a week of fun. On the way back to Maryland Lady Nancy received a much needed spa treatment and a Buc-ee's stop was made for the driver. 👍🏽

Our group of Scouts began their day in Lancaster County, PA with a tour of Amish Country. They enjoyed lunch at the home of an Old Order Amish family. From there they ventured to Gettysburg, PA for a rainy tour of the Gettysburg National Battlefield Park. From there they ate dinner in Martinsburg, VW before settling into their hotel in Lexington, VA. Next stop, Jamboree!

Our combined group of Scouts from Nevada and Alaska arrived on red-eye flights at Philadelphia International Airport to begin the first part of their East Coast tour during the 2026 National Jamboree. Their first stop was Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell in downtown Philadelphia. They also visited the Museum of the American Revolution before running the "Rocky Steps" at the Art Museum. A full day with Potomac Tours for sure!

The African American Civil War Memorial was dedicated on this date in 1998 here in Washington, D.C. Located at U Street and Vermont Avenue, the memorial honors the more than 200,000 African American soldiers and sailors who served in the U.S. Army and Navy during the Civil War. The central feature is sculptor Ed Hamilton's "Spirit of Freedom." The large bronze statue expresses the determination of the men who helped to end the war and free over four million enslaved people. Curving around the dramatic statue, low walls are covered in lines of names, connecting visitors to the individuals who served and sacrificed. We hope you'll stop by soon to experience this powerful place for yourself.
