Hear that hum overhead? That's the biplanes. ✈️

The National Stearman Fly-In is in full swing at the Galesburg Municipal Airport all week, one of the largest gatherings of these classic open-cockpit biplanes anywhere in the world.

And if you're only going to catch one day, make it Saturday!

It's the biggest day of the whole event. Rows of vintage aircraft, flying contests, narrated tram rides down the flight line, and the sunrise Dawn Patrol for the early risers.

We'll see you out there!

There's a reason we do this every year!

Yesterday Galesburg marched in the oldest continuous Labor Day parade in the country, 134 years and counting. Union pride, marching bands, families lining the streets, and Stearman biplanes roaring overhead to kick off Fly-In week.

Thank you to everyone who came out and to everyone who made it happen.

We caught it from the air too. Drone footage drops tomorrow, so keep an eye out!

Here's the thing about downtown Galesburg. It doesn't need an occasion.

The brick streets, the shop windows, a good cup of coffee close by. Worth the trip on any given day.

Quick note: tonight's First Friday is moving to Friday, October 2. The heat got this one, so we're saving it for a cooler fall night. 🍂

But don't let that keep you home. The shops are open and downtown's still the best seat in town.

Look up next week, Galesburg. The biplanes are coming home. ✈️

The 55th National Stearman Fly In lands at the Galesburg Municipal Airport September 7 through 13, one of the largest gatherings of these classic open-cockpit biplanes anywhere in the world.

A week of vintage aircraft, roaring engines, and a whole lot of history in the sky.

Come see them up close. Hop a narrated tram ride down the flight line, watch the flying contests, or just look up and enjoy the show.

We'll see you at the airport.

The last First Fridays of the season, and the one where summer quietly hands things over to fall.

Friday, September 4, 5 to 8 PM on Seminary Street. Live music, shops open late, good food, and an evening you'll be thinking about come January. Bring a lawn chair and stay till the music stops!
