BIG NEWS IN THE TRAVEL WORLD: ROYAL CARIBBEAN + SANDALS!

This one definitely caught my attention today! Royal Caribbean Group has announced plans to acquire a 50% stake in Sandals Resorts International — the company behind both Sandals and Beaches Resorts — in a deal valued at approximately $3 billion.

Before anyone panics… Royal Caribbean is not “taking over” Sandals. This will be a 50/50 partnership, and Adam Stewart will remain Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International.

So what does this mean for travelers?

For right now, not much changes. Sandals and Beaches will continue operating as usual, current reservations remain in place, and the brands we know aren’t suddenly becoming Royal Caribbean resorts.

But the future possibilities are VERY interesting.

Royal Caribbean has an enormous cruise and loyalty customer base, while Sandals and Beaches have some of the most recognized all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. The companies have already said they plan to explore opportunities across their portfolios.

Could we eventually see easier cruise + resort combinations? Loyalty perks that cross between the brands? New vacation packages? More options for pre- and post-cruise stays?

Nothing like that has been announced yet — but you better believe I’ll be watching!

As someone who books a LOT of Royal Caribbean and Sandals vacations, I’m really curious to see where this partnership goes.

When Is the Best Time to Go to Sandals?
Want the Sandals experience without paying peak-season prices? Timing can make a BIG difference!
June through November is often one of the best times to find lower rates at Sandals, with September and October sometimes offering especially good values.
But here’s another trick that people don’t always think about…
If your schedule is flexible and you can travel LAST MINUTE, you can sometimes find some fantastic pricing just a few weeks before departure.
Resorts would rather fill an available room than leave it empty, so when there’s availability close to the travel date, you may find lower pricing or special offers that weren’t available months earlier.
Of course, last-minute travel isn’t for everyone. You need flexibility with your dates, resort and possibly your room category — and airfare can sometimes be higher when booking close to departure.
But if you’re the kind of couple who can say, “We could go to the Caribbean in three weeks…” I definitely want to hear from you. 😂🌴
