🌿 Introducing a berry cool native plant: Pokeweed!
Pokeweed is native to the coastal prairies of eastern Texas, often found in woods, clearings, or damp areas. 💧🌱 Its berries are not only a tasty treat for mammals and birds in the park, but they also attract pollinators like bees 🐝 and butterflies 🦋, especially during their summer bloom of white or pink flowers. 🌸
Pokeweed berries are a crucial food source for migratory wildlife 🦅, providing them with nourishment on their long journeys. 🌍 Without native plants like pokeweed, sustaining these populations becomes nearly impossible. Sadly, their migrations are already being impacted by human activities, such as urbanization and pollution. 🌆
