Gaston The Eagle is the Mascot and Official Travel Ambassador for Gaston County Tourism Development Hi! Bald eagles typically have yellow eyes.

It is our pleasure to introduce you to Gaston, the official ambassador of Gaston County Tourism Development, here to show you the best places to explore, in and around Gaston County. I'm Gaston and this is my story

I am a bald eagle and you will easily recognize me by my unique teal eyes. Anyways... while migrating south searching for my forever home I noticed two mountain peaks rising above a r

elatively flat landscape (Crowders Mountain State Park and Kings Mountain). As I got closer I also saw two rivers (Catawba River and its South ork) nearby so I decided to stop and take a closer look. I am happy to say I have found my forever home here. After having such a good time exploring and becoming so impressed by the area, I starting sharing my experiences with everyone I came across. This led to Gaston County Tourism appointing me as their official ambassador. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you and showing you where to explore.

🦅 WOW! What an incredible evening at Celebrate the Outdoors at CaroMont Health Park!

A huge THANK YOU to all the kids and families who came out on Friday, June 5, to explore, play, learn, and celebrate the great outdoors with me and so many amazing community partners. Seeing so many smiling faces enjoying everything has to offer made my eagle heart soar!

As you head out on your next adventure, whether you're hiking a trail, paddling the water, visiting a local park, or stopping by one of our fantastic partners, don't forget to snap a photo and tag Gaston The Eagle or Go Gaston NC .

I love seeing all the different ways you're getting outside and making memories across Gaston County.

Y’all really know how to turn up the heat!

I had a flying good time meeting everyone at the Gastonia Ghost Peppers Fan Fest! From the spicy snacks to the high-fives and selfies, you all made this eagle feel right at home.

Big shoutout to Peppy and the whole Gastonia Ghost Peppers crew for the warm (and extra hot) welcome! Can’t wait to soar by again soon!
