There are seeds still available until supplies run out 🌻 We had several growers in the county last year, and it made for beautiful backdrops and scenery throughout Scott County! If you participated last year, we’d love to have you again! If you did not, give our extension office a call and sign up to do it this year!
Back by popular demand – the Scott County Sunflower Tour !
Last year we had a wildly successful (and beautiful) sunflower 🌻 blanket across Scott County, and we can’t wait to see it grow bigger and better!
Mann Farms, in conjunction with the Scott County Extension Service, the Scott County Bounty Trail, and Scott County Tourism wants YOU to grow sunflowers 🌻
David Mann is graciously providing Peredovik Black Oilseed to Scott County residents / businesses / farms / venues. To participate, you must commit to plant at least one-quarter to one-half acre of sunflowers. The sunflower area must be accessible to the public so we can map the fields for a spectacular and scenic drive through Scott County.
Scott County Tourism will provide a Selfie Sunflower Station (yard sign) for growers to designate their spot. In addition, Scott County Extension services will provide instructions on planting the seeds for maximum coverage and beauty.
Sunflowers require between 100 to 120 days to propagate. Seeds will be distributed at the Scott County Extension office (131 Military Lane, Gate City) May 13th from 10 am-5 pm or by appointment after May 13th. After receiving your seeds, Scott County Extension Agent Scott Jerrell will provide planting instructions.
To participate or for questions, call (276) 452-2772.
