GATLINBURG- BEAR COUNTRY.
About 1,500 black bears call the Smoky Mountains home, and there's a pretty good chance you will see one near our chalet.
FUN FACTS:
Black bear in East Tennessee do not actually hibernate, but find hollow trees or stumps above ground to sleep during colder periods. 1 to 4 cubs are born around the first of February and will begin to emerge from their "dens" in late March and April. Cubs will stay with their mother for about 18 months or until she mates again.
BEST PLACES TO SPOT BEAR:
Smoky Mountain National Park
Cades Cove in the national park
Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail

Remember to keep a distance if you spot a bear and do not feed them. Be safe and enjoy your stay at the Smoky Mountains.
