Have you tried to do a hike in the park but found it too crowded? Here are some great alternatives!

1. Hen Wallow Falls -- This waterfall is located on the Gabes Mountain Trail. The moderate 4.4 mile (Roundtrip) hike is tucked away in the quieter Cosby section of the park. This trail leads up to a 90-foot waterfall and features a wide variety of native plant species.

2. Baskins Creek Falls -- This 2.7 mile (RT) moderate hike can be reached by parking on the side of Cherokee Orchard road just before the entrance to the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. Baskins Creek has a little something for all nature lovers, including an abundance of tree species and outcroppings of quartz and sandstone.

3. Metcalf Bottoms Trail -- This 1.2 mile (RT) easy hike can be started from the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Area. This trail follows alongside a cascading river and has a few bridge crossings. The highlight of this trail is reaching the Little Greenbrier Schoolhouse built in 1882.
