One of the best differences between Disney World and Disney Cruise Line for me was the it’s a small world nursery and the Oceaneer Club.

My kids genuinely wanted to go.

Every day they would ask when they could go back.

As the only adult on the trip, that made a huge difference.

I love spending time with my kids, but having a safe place where they were excited to be gave me a chance to sit with a coffee, read a book, take a shower, or simply enjoy a few quiet minutes without anyone needing something from me.

It made the trip feel so much more manageable.

And the best part was that they were having just as much fun as I was.

For me, the kids clubs ended up being one of the biggest advantages Disney Cruise has over a traditional Disney vacation.

One of my favorite moments from our Disney Cruise happened on the very last night.

During dinner at Animator’s Palate, everyone was given paper and crayons and invited to draw their own characters.

Then, at the end, all of the drawings were brought to life on the screens around the restaurant.

My son was absolutely mesmerized watching his character become part of the show.

It’s one of those things Disney does so well. They could have simply served dinner, but instead they turned it into an experience.

The entire restaurant was cheering, pointing at the screens, and trying to spot their own creations.

It was such a fun way to end our cruise and one of those memories my kids still talk about today.

One of the things that helped me the MOST on my Disney Cruise with little kids:

Free room service.

When you’re the only adult with really young kids, getting everybody up, dressed, and out the door first thing in the morning can feel like a lot.

Having breakfast delivered to the room made our mornings feel so much calmer and easier.

The kids could wake up slowly, eat in pajamas, and we didn’t have to immediately rush to get out the door and into a restaurant.

And honestly, eating breakfast on our balcony while docked in places like Hamburg ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip.

It just made the mornings feel peaceful in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve traveled with little kids 😅

I’m doing something a little different over on Instagram this week and recapping our 7-night European cruise on the Disney Dream from back in 2024.

This trip happened before Fairytale Travel Guide even existed, and looking back now, it taught me so much about traveling internationally alone with young kids (mine were 1 and 3 at the time 😅).

If Disney cruises, Europe, or traveling solo with kids is something you’re interested in, I’d love to have you follow along.

My kids LOVE Disney transportation.

Sometimes as the only adult, transportation feels like logistics to me. Folding the stroller. Getting everyone on buses. Keeping people moving.

But my kids?

They’re having the time of their lives.

They get excited to guess what color monorail we’re going to get. They love seeing which character will be on our Skyliner. They pick their seats. They watch out the windows.

One time a Disney bus driver gave them a special Disney transportation coin and they both still keep them safely in their rooms.

Even when we’re walking around the parks, seeing monorails overhead, Skyliners flying by, or boats crossing the water still gets them excited.

And honestly, transportation can become part of the fun too.

One slower Disney day recently, we took a bus from Old Key West to Hollywood Studios, rode the Skyliner over to Caribbean Beach Resort, and had dinner there just because the kids wanted to ride it.

Sometimes the Disney things kids love most aren’t always the things you expect.
