There are seasons in life when someone quietly steps in and carries more than anyone else realizes.

A little over two years ago, my daughter Abbie and her husband moved to Pennsylvania from Ohio. After three years as an elementary school teacher, she was ready for a new direction. She offered to help us with our vacation rentals while building her own virtual assistant business from the ground up.

What started as “helping Mom” became so much more.

Abbie has been the one behind countless spotless turnovers, perfectly organized systems, thoughtful guest touches, and so many improvements that have made both of our properties run more smoothly. Her attention to detail, incredible organization, and genuine care for every guest experience have left a lasting mark on our business.

This June, she reached an exciting milestone. Her business has grown to the point where she no longer needs to clean and manage our properties, and while I already miss having her on our team every day, I couldn’t be prouder. Watching her build a successful business from the ground up has been such a joy.

Abbie, thank you for every early morning, every last-minute guest request, every checklist, every deep clean, every fresh idea, and every way you’ve helped make Blue Coat Cottage, Angled Pine and our website PACozyRentals.com what it is today. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.

Standing at the 20th Maine monument, walking the rocky slopes, and ending with the view from Little Round Top, it’s hard not to imagine what unfolded here in July 1863. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, this place never feels the same twice.

If Gettysburg is on your bucket list, make time to explore Little Round Top. The views are unforgettable, but it’s the stories behind them that stay with you long after you leave.

Six years ago today, we stood in front of this little cottage with a SOLD sign and a whole lot of excitement… and maybe a little nervousness, too.

We had no idea how many families, couples, and friends would eventually walk through that front door and make memories of their own. What started as a dream has become one of the most rewarding adventures we’ve ever taken.

To everyone who’s stayed with us, shared kind words, recommended us to friends, or simply followed along on this journey, thank you. You’ve been such a big part of Blue Coat Cottage’s story. 💙

From worn and well-loved… to fresh and thoughtfully redesigned.

This little corner of Blue Coat Cottage has been part of so many family memories, but it was time for a new chapter.

Out went the old farmhouse table, coffee bar, and kitchen setup. In came a warm mid-century look that feels brighter, more functional, and just as welcoming.

On July 3, 1863, just a short distance from where we now welcome guests, the final day of the Battle of Gettysburg unfolded.

Pickett’s Charge crossed open fields into heavy fire at Cemetery Ridge. In less than an hour, the assault failed, and the tide of the Civil War began to turn.

This year marks the 250th anniversary of our nation. We pause to remember what was lost and reflect on what these peaceful fields once held.

Today, Gettysburg is quiet, but its history remains.
