History comes alive just a short walk from Timmins On Buford!

This Friday, August 8, we'll welcome surgical living historian Rex Hovey to Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center. He'll be set up in the third-floor galleries, so if you're visiting the Museum, be sure to check out his demonstration throughout the day!

Rex's great-granduncle, Dr. Bleecker Lansing Hovey, served as the regimental surgeon of the 136th New York Infantry at the George Spangler Farm in 1863. Rex also utilizes the original surgical kit once used by Dr. Nelson Barnes, regimental surgeon of the 76th New York Infantry, a First Corps unit that served west and north of the building that now houses SRMEC.

Our Timmins Traveler recently visited this site, situated within walking distance on Seminary Ridge, which served as a key location for Confederate artillery, notably the Hardaway artillery that included the formidable Whitworth guns. Do you know the name of the woods?
