Well Cooper drove almost 1,900 miles via TX-OK-MO-IL-IN-OH-PA to return to Gettysburg. We are safe, quarantining here for 2 weeks before returning to see family. We've been exercising on the park, and have done a couple of 4 mile walks with Coop.

Since we're back on our old stomping grounds, any photo requests? The red bud is beautiful right now on the battlefield. Stay safe everyone!

We've been following the water here in the desert. The first two photos are near San Felipe Creek, it's spring fed and crystal clear here in Del Rio. The sunny photos were taken at Devil's River, a beautiful spring fed creek north of Del Rio. It's only accessible via a 22 mile dirt road, but it was worth the hour drive. The final photo is Cooper at the Rio Grande River, with Mexico in the background. If he swam across would Border Patrol let him back in?

Thanks to everyone for following Cooper this year. 2019 brought us Florida, Michigan and Texas. We are looking forward to 2020 to see more of Texas and our next TBD destination.

Happy New Year to everyone! More posts soon...

It's been awhile since our last post. Over the past month we transitioned from Michigan to Texas where we'll be for four months.

We started in Springfield, IL to finally complete our pilgrimage to see Abe. The museum, his home, and his tomb have been on our list for a long time, all are very well done!

Off to Missouri for the first time for both of us. We had St. Louis style pizza and some beer named Bud while walking our favorite subject around the sites of the city.

From St. Louis to Kansas City for some awesome BBQ and a stop to see Truman's home and farm in nearby Independence. We were fortunate to see the Big Boy on its anniversary tour too.

Christine had orientation in OKC and along the way we stopped in Tulsa. Tulsa has a great riverwalk too.

We left Michigan in the snow and had more snow in Missouri, and have now settled in the desert. Snow is very rare here and we hope there's plenty of warm weather to come (80's last weekend).

We hope to explore South Texas while we're here, and we'll keep you updated with photos of your favorite FB friend, Cooper.

Cooper says, "It's finally cold enough!" Cooper loves the snow and he had a round of puppy zoomies. He's still outside right now, he doesn't want to come in.

Today is Cooper's 5th Birthday!!!

We can't believe he's been shedding on our lives for 4 years now. He's had quite a week, especially in the treat department. He's currently destroying the empty peanut butter jar, it'll be gone by the time you finish reading this. He got a little pork chop gnaw last week. He also got pumpkin treats and new toys (note the hands-free tug).

The final picture is Cooper cheering on the runners at the Chicago Marathon. He was wearing a cowbell, which he didn't like. He kept shaking his head trying to get it off, which only made it ring. Hilarious!

We have one more week in Michigan (it's supposed to snow on our last day here), and then we are heading south to Del Rio, TX. We will be stopping in Springfield, IL to complete our Lincoln pilgrimage and Springfield, MO to visit Wilson's Creek. Pictures and updates to follow.

Happy Halloween everyone!

YOOPER COOPER!

We recently checked off another Mitten State must, a trip to the Upper Peninsula (the U-P). Folks who live up there (and there aren't many) are called Yooper's, and residents of lower Peninsula are called trolls (they live under the bridge-the Mighty Mac that links the two).

We started in the SOO (Sault Ste. Marie) and watched a freighter transfer through the locks between Lake Huron and Lake Superior. And speaking of Lake Superior, it is absolutely named correctly. It's absolutely beautiful; clear blue water, ocean-like waves, and no salt (Cooper thought it tasted just fine)!

We then moved on to Whitefish Point, a narrows that approaches the SOO, and where the Edmund Fitzgerald met its demise (go listen to the song if you have a few hours to kill). A boat tour of Pictured Rocks was the only part of the trip that didn't involve labradors. Lake Michigan has sand dunes, Lake Superior has breathtaking sandstone bluffs.

We continued to the Keweenah Peninsula to the lovely town of Copper Harbor. This area boomed with copper mining and many of the small towns look like the mining towns of NE PA (but it snows A LOT more in MI). We finished in Marquette to give Cooper one last chance to play in Lake Superior.

Fall is definitely approaching here in MI. We hope you enjoy the upcoming season. We have six more weeks here, and we'll keep posting Cooper's adventures. Thanks for following!

We've been having too much fun! We are exploring as much of the Mitten State as possible. Cooper is seeing most of it too, unless he's playing fetch with his frisbee.

We have also made our way to Chicago. Pictured below is Cooper making himself at home there. He had a blast at the dog park there too.

We had a postcard day in Sleeping Bear Dunes last weekend. The pictures don't do it justice, crystal blue water, 300' dunes falling almost vertically to the lake, it is spectacular!

Our stint in Michigan has been extended through September, so much more to come, including an Upper Peninsula trip! Thanks for following. Happy Dog Day's here at the end of summer!

What a gorgeous start to summer in MI! Got to explore Mackinac Island where the lilacs were in full bloom (so the Island smelled like its signature fudge AND lilacs...is this heaven?). Super dog friendly too, Cooper had a blast 🐾😍
