I will say, if you're traveling without kids, splurge for the club level at Fiesta Americana. The view from the club exclusive pool was amazing.😍

I spent the week learning more about Puerto Vallarta and bonding with the DISIT travel agent family. I toured a few properties and went on a local excursion. What a treat and such amazing people to spend the week with! Here are some of the highlights.

Photos from our time in Turkiye. We joined a guided tour that visited Ismir, Antalya, Konya, Cappadocia and Istanbul. A wonderful experience and easy way to see an area that's been on our bucket list for a long time.

After a 14 hour flight, we've landed in Doha, Qatar. We have a 1 night stopover here on our way to Istanbul. We walked around and visited the Souq Waqif marketplace, trying some Yemin cuisine. It's around 100 degrees here with high humidity, definitely not the dry heat we're used to.

Last stop Budapest; actually two cities, Buda and Pest. The architecture is stunning! Mary and I went with the active tour and hiked up the hill into Buda to see the Castle district. They are continuing to rebuild the buildings to the original style since almost everything was destroyed during WW2. On our second day here we took a Tuk Tuk tour and saw even more sights. We finished our trip with an amazing (though long) dinner at the famous Gundel restaurant where we were serenaded all evening long. We've had an amazing time on the AmaMagna with AmaWaterways! We're putting plans together for another river cruise on the Magdalena River in Columbia. If you'd like to join us, let me know.

I hiked up to the castle in Bratislava in Slovakia. So much of their historical architecture was torn down during the communist regime but we saw a couple of the old buildings and churches that are still standing. It was fascinating to hear about the Iron Curtain, that was just on the other side of the Danube River, keeping the people prisoners in their own city. Their freedom came in 1989! That wasn't that long ago! They are still rebuilding and trying to honor what they lost.

We spent the day in Vienna. In the morning we walked around the city and saw St Michaels church and had coffee at Demel, a popular Viennese Cafe. We took it easy, knitting on the boat for the afternoon. In the evening, we went to a performance of Mozart and Strauss which included Opera singers and Ballet dancers. It was beautiful!

Today we went to Melk, Durnstein and Spitz. We started with a tour of the Melk Abby, it was beautiful, pictures weren't allowed inside, so you'll have to take my word for it. Then we traveled down the Danube catching glimpses of castles along the way, we docked in Spitz and went to Durnstein for a city tour and saw another Abby. We went back to Spitz for wine tasting and entertainment, which was fabulous! Back onboard for a special valentines dinner, which I forgot to take pictures of. Such a full day! Happy Valentines everyone!

We spent the day visiting Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart and where the Sound of Music took place. I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't know it was based on a true story. We saw the real convent where Maria lived before going to work for the Von Traps and a few of the filming locations. We also went up to the fortress and saw the beautiful view of the whole city. After Salzburg, we met the boat in Grein. After dinner we went on a tour of the Grein Castle, owned by a descendent of Queen Victoria. Seeing all the original artwork of the royal family was just amazing! And they had a minstrel perform for us in the great hall. He made all his instruments using methods appropriate for the time period he designed them from. Such a wonderful experience!
