Measure it. Move it. Make it right.

This video demonstrates our patent-pending Triad Datum™ system, a 3-axis adjustable datum interface engineered to reduce tune in time for complex parts.

Unlike conventional fixed datums, the Triad Datum allow precision adjustment in X, Y, and Z through a manually actuated lead screw and a digital indicator for feedback. Now all the datums can be tuned to position the part in a best fit and the datum deltas can be fed back into the tooling for optimal part alignment, getting the best fit.

Once tune is done, just unwind the datums back to zero, drive in the pins and lock it down, and you are back to fixed “zeroed” datums.

The triad datum has already proven to be a huge time saver in automotive lighting applications.

This short clip shows some of our drawing automation. This automation system pulls information directly from customer requirements for body planes, XYZ/IJK, or other methods for determining check locations, assists in placing the SPC, and later building this portion of the drawing with a click.
This saves time, improves consistency, and makes life easier for both our team and our customers.

PQ, Inc. is looking to grow our team. We are seeking full-time employment of a CNC CAM Programmer. This position will be trained in HyperMILL making complex parts on 5-axis Hermle. Extensive experience is preferred but applicants must have some CAM experience and be very trainable.

Requisites:

A solid knowledge of machining processes - milling, drilling, turning

An understanding of G-Code

Understanding of GD&T

CAM Programming

Optional Skills: (not required but pay will be based on skill and experience)

Fusion 360 (or InventorCAM)

Understanding of Fanuc Macro Language

Experience with CAD and drafting

Experience with leadership

Experience with Heidenhain Control

CAM Programmer (5-axis)

PQ, Inc. is looking for a new team member to program and run 5 and 3 axis machines. The primary function of this position is to program and machine tooling components using a Hermle 5-axis CNC and HyperMILL. Support in other departments (CNC Lathe, 3-axis milling, etc.) may be required depending on workload. A typical day for this position is 4-6 hours of programming at a desk and 2-4 hours of machine and tool setup. This position offers flexibility and a great work environment, but candidates MUST be self-motivated, reliable, and able to work with time constraints. This is not an entry level position.

This position is full-time, with five days of eight-hour day shifts Monday through Friday. Schedule is flexible but will require agreed on core hours. Candidate may be required to take an aptitude or competence test.

Responsibilities:

Prepare 3D models from design for manufacture
Determine requirements, orientations, and strategies for parts to be manufactured
Setup, breakdown, and selection of tools for jobs
Maintain tool database including cutting data
Use HyperMILL to program parts from start to finish
Use Hermle 5-axis CNC with Heidenhain TNC640 control to setup and run parts
Maintain touch probe and laser tool setter calibration
Run and maintain kinematic calibration
Work with maintenance on keeping machines clean and maintained
Support other departments, especially quality
Required Qualifications:

Solid experience in CAM Programming (5-axis experience is preferred)
Experience completing parts from billet and completing preprocessed or hardened parts
Deep rooted understating of GD&T
Solid understanding of complex part alignments (i.e., planes and rotations)
Experience using CAM to simulate and verify programs against models, tool, and kinematics
Able to lift 50lbs on occasion
Able to sit at a desk or stand on concrete for long periods of time
Able to pass a drug test
Other Qualifications (not required but desirable):

Fusion 360 CAM (or InventorCAM) experience
Experience programming CNC Lathes
Fanuc and Haas Control Experience
Experience as a tool maker
Experience in leadership
Experience using a surface grinder
