Wisconsin Unincorporated Do you know that there are 1,514 unincorporated communities in the state of Wisconsin. I was raise Hi, I am Kim. I am a hiker, photographer and traveler.

I was raised between two unincorporated communities and always tried not to blink as I pass each area. With all my travels around the state, I thought it would be a nifty idea to start documenting each community I pass and give a small description of each. Feel free to message me if you like your unincorporated community featured on my page. This is a work in progress so all ideas welcome. Please include a brief history or something of significance.

Today's feature for unincorporated community is Lac Du Flambeau. This beautiful area is located in Vilas County and is home to the Lac Du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe. Surrounded by beautiful lakes including a lake with its namesake, Lac Du Flambeau is 7.7 square miles with 2.7 square miles of it being of water. La Du Flambeau is French for Lake of the Torches but the tribes call it Waswagoning. While here be sure to visit the George W. Brown Jr. Ojibwe Museum. Next to the museum is the Waaswaaganing Indian Bowl which during the summer months hosts an open Pow Wow on Tuesday nights. Minnesota Junction is an unincorporated community located, in the town of Oak Grove, in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States. Minnesota Junction is located on Wisconsin Highway 26.
