I recently spent 7 nights experiencing Explora Journeys, and as someone who isn’t much of a cruiser, I was genuinely curious to see what I would think ☀️🌊

After experiencing it firsthand, I can understand the appeal of this style of travel.
One of the biggest advantages of cruising is the convenience. You unpack once and have the opportunity to experience multiple destinations without having to think about flights, trains, transfers or the logistics of getting from one place to another.

What stood out to me most about Explora was the service. It was attentive without feeling intrusive, the ship was exceptionally clean, and the overall atmosphere felt sophisticated, relaxed and comfortable. It truly feels like a luxury hotel at sea.

I also noticed a diverse mix of travelers onboard, including solo travelers, wellness seekers,
multi-gen families, Gen X and younger affluent travelers. Most of the guests we met were in their 40s and older.

There was entertainment onboard, including live music, bands, karaoke and interactive activities. However, I don’t see an extensive entertainment schedule as the primary reason to choose Explora.

The experience is much more centered around the destinations, dining, service, wellness and the overall environment.

Explora is particularly well suited to travelers who appreciate luxury, exceptional service and great food, want to experience multiple destinations, and value the ease of cruising, but prefer an environment that feels more like a sophisticated luxury hotel at sea ✨

I’ve always been more of a boutique hotel + customized itinerary kind of traveler…so this is going to be interesting. 👀

Unpopular opinion... 🌴👇🏻

I love both for different reasons but if you ask me to choose, Cabo takes my vote!
Before you come for me 😅 hear me out...

For me, Cabo wins because of:

🌅 Incredible scenery
🍽️ Amazing food
🍹 More relaxed atmosphere
💕 Perfect for couples and special occasions
✈️ And it’s a quick 2 hr flight from LAX for us here on the West Coast

One of the biggest surprises for first-time visitors to Los Cabos? 🌊

Don’t make this mistake 😩

If there’s one piece of advice I’d give anyone planning a Bora Bora trip, it’s this: don’t skip the overwater bungalow.

For most travelers, that’s the experience you’ve been dreaming about. Waking up over that incredible turquoise lagoon, having direct access to the water, and watching the sunrise or sunset from your private deck is what makes Bora Bora so unforgettable.

If your budget is tight, don’t eliminate the overwater bungalow altogether. Instead, split your stay! Spend the first few nights in a garden or beach villa, then move into an overwater bungalow for the last few nights. It’s a great way to experience both while helping manage your budget.

🌺 Hawaii is so much more than beautiful beaches.

🤭Number 10 is not really a bucket list experience but rather something I highly recommend when visiting Maui!!

Each island offers something completely different from volcanic landscapes and world-famous scenic drives to unforgettable marine life encounters and rich Hawaiian culture. 🫶🏻 What’s one hotel you’d go back to again and again?

The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua was one of those resorts that just felt special from the moment I arrived.
What I loved most wasn’t just the beautiful ocean views or the luxury accommodations, it was the overall feeling of the resort. The service was exceptional, the grounds were stunning, and the location in Kapalua felt peaceful and removed from the busier areas of Maui.

If you’re looking for a luxury Hawaii getaway that combines relaxation, natural beauty, and genuine hospitality, this resort is absolutely worth considering.

I especially love it for couples, honeymooners, anniversary trips, and anyone looking to slow down and enjoy Maui at a more relaxed pace.

As a travel advisor, I don’t recommend hotels simply because they’re luxury. I recommend the places that leave a lasting impression long after the trip is over and this is one of them.
