The 1st Annual Easter Glass Float Hunt at the Visitor Center was a great success! Over 60 kids were able to find their very own glass float, along with receiving a free ice cream cone certificate (Thank you Double D’s, the Coffee Dock and Gold Beach Books). Parents, grandparents and older siblings added to the fun, with over 200 visitors and community members enjoying the beauty weather.

Approximately 250 people came to the Visitor Center yesterday! What an amazing, fun and positive day. Glass float season is in full swing! Please remember to just take 1 float per person. If you aren’t successful in finding a float on the beach, come see us to pick up a map of local retail stores who are participating. Spend over $25 in one of these stores, bring your receipt to the Visitor Center and receive a free float. Please be aware that there are some rules regarding what qualifies towards your purchase.

Hello! Attached is the April calendar for volunteers to help out inside the Visitor Center for Glass Float Month. Be part of the magic of a very special treasure hunt. We need at least one volunteer daily, but are happy to have up to two. You can sign up for a couple hours or we'd love to have you join us from 9 am to 3 pm. Please call the Visitor Center at 541-247-7526 to sign up (spaces will fill up fast).

Glass Float Month is fast approaching! If you would like to be a part of the fun, the Gold Beach Visitor Center is excited to invite you to volunteer. You’ll be assisting staff with handing out Retail Maps and Glass Float maps and explaining how the Treasure Hunt works. You’ll also be sharing information about our beautiful community. Volunteers are needed 9 am-3 pm, 7 days a week, so there are plenty of times available. Happening now through March 31! We moved the month of our food drive to better assist food banks in Gold Beach. Bring non-perishable donations to the Gold Beach Visitor Center, 7 days a week, 9 am-3 pm and receive a glass float.

Sneaker wave warning through Saturday. Be alert…

A long period swell will build along the southern Oregon coast late Friday night (2/28/25) through Saturday (3/1/25) with wave heights going 3-4 times overhead. The US National Weather Service Medford Oregon has issued a Sneaker Wave Warning for this time period. With the long period interval between sets of waves (sometimes 15-30 minutes) beachgoers might be caught off guard when these large sets of waves do arrive, sweeping up the beach much further than the smaller secondary swell. Know before you go!
