Sunday, February 23, 2014 - Krewe of Tchefuncte, Madisonville – 2pm
The colorful boats-only floating parade founded in 1973 cruises the Tchefuncte River, starting at Salty’s Marina, then heads downriver and turns around to dock on both the north and south sides of the Hwy 22 bridge. King Neptune’s Marching Society precedes the boat parade by marching down Water Street to the reviewing stand. This year’s theme: “Celebrating Louisiana’s Legends.”

Mardi Gras in Mamou, Louisiana

Self-styled as the "The Cajun Music Capital of the World," the small town of Mamou lies in the Louisiana flatlands of the Mamou Prairie, around 50 miles northwest of Lafayette. The town has some famous attractions, including Fred's Lounge, a local bar that takes credit for helping revive many Cajun traditions. This includes the annual Mardi Gras in Mamou, which attracts thousands of revelers each year.
