You know we love to cruise. This next winter/spring, we're doing two long cruises, one trans-Pacific from San Francisco to Auckland on Azamara in January and February followed by our first trans-Atlantic cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Lisbon in March and April on Crystal.

The first will go via Hawaii, Polynesia, Fiji, Norfolk Island and consists of two segments, San Fran to Tahiti and Tahiti to Auckland. The second will have four ports of call in the Caribbean before heading over to the Canary Islands. From there it will makes numerous stops in the Canaries, Madeira, Morocco, and Spain before arriving in Portugal.

We look forward to cruising with Azamara after some years away. It's a great value for the quality. Our favorite line is Crystal, the one we were on for four months last year. We look forward to interacting with many of the crew and entertainers on the Crystal Symphony we got to know last year.

Of course, we would love if any friends would wish to sail with us on any of these segments. Both offer good values for the quality as they include many sea days. If your ideal cruise is 12 ports of call during a two week cruise, these are not the cruises for you. For us, however, we enjoy the enrichment, entertainment, and relaxation of a cruise especially when it's winter in Indiana!

I'd love to book you with us. The booking would go through Menno Travel and qualify for perks such as onboard credits through their affiliation with Signature Travel Network. Or book with your favorite Menno Travel advisor.

We had discussed organizing a “Best of Cuba” tour for next winter. With all of the scarcity of resources in Cuba at present, those plans are on hold. Cuba is out of jet fuel. Mexico is sending emergency food and supplies. While tourism brings in much needed outside money, now is not the time.

We experienced Cuba just before Covid and it was like returning to the Latin America of the 1960s. Friendly people, great art and culture, beautiful scenery.

We've had people asking whether we plan to host any trips in the future. We're excited to say that we are planning a "Best of Cuba" trip for January 2027, just over a year from now.

The trip will follow closely a tour we did in February 2020 (just before Covid!) and will focus on the culture and history of Cuba. It will qualify for a "Support for the Cuban People" visa.

Doug had studied Latin American studies back in his college days and spent time in Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru then. His impression is that the Cuba of today really is a study of Latin America of the 1960s in so many ways.

We hope you'll consider joining us. If we can get a group of 16+ we will have our own exclusive transportation and guide.

We have learned that Sharon and I have been confirmed to host a sailing on luxury cruise line Silversea Cruises for the last half of February from Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Aires. It's an itinerary that we have sailed before and most people know that Brazil and Argentina are two of our favorite destinations.

The ship is the Silver Whisper, an all-suite ship with under 400 passengers and pretty much all -inclusive except for shore excursions and spa services, etc. Amenities include butler service (we've learned to enjoy this), an insuite stocked bar, Wi-fi, port charges, 24-hour in-suite dining, speciality dining options, onboard gratuities.

For this sailing if booked through The Exchange Travel Services or your Menno Travel advisor, you will receive $600 onboard credit toward those shore excursions or spa service or onboard shopping and as a special added feature a private car and driver city tour in either Rio de Janeiro or Buenos Aires (up to a $750 value)!

Be sure to mention offer number 1559281 to your Menno Travel advisor to receive these benefits. Airfare and pre- or post-cruise options are not included and we encourage people to take advantage of added time to enjoy these two countries.

The cruise boards in Rio on February 14 and disembarks in B.A. on February 26. There are two overnights in Rio and one in B.A. Ports of call include Buzios, Ilhabela, Paranagua, Balneariu Camboriu, and Punta del Este Uruguay. A great post-cruise option is a visit to Iguazu Falls.

Doesn't February in Brazil and Argentina sound beter than February in northn Indiana??

Counting down the time! We leave tomorrow for our "trip of a lifetime" on our favorite cruise line, Crystal Cruises. We'll be sailing for 115 days from Singapore to Lisbon on the Crystal Symphony, a ship of 606 passengers when sailing full.

Our itinerary is composed of nine segments, end on end. We sail from singapore to Hong Kong with stops along the way in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and finally in Hong Kong. The second segment will sail then from Hong Kong to Yokohama (Tokyo) with stops in Taiwan, Okinawa, several stops in Japan. From Yokohama we stop at Nagasaki, Pusan and Jeju Korea, Shanghai, several stops in the Philippines, Borneo, Brunei, and back to Singapore.

We then continue to Penang Malaysia, Phuket Thailand, Sabang Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Cochin and Mumbai India. Then we head south with stops in Goa, back to Sri Lanka, Male in the Maldives, and ending in Mahe Seychelles. The next leg gets to Africa: Mombasa for Nairobi (overnight safari), Zanzibar, Mozambique, and numerous stop in South Africa.

From South Africa we head north to two stops in Namibia, two in Angola, Sao Tome and Principe, Benin, and Accra Ghana. Our final leg heads to north with four sea days (lots of lectures, lessons, entertainment) with two stops in Cape Verde, the Canary Islands, Madeira, and finally to Lisbon where we'll have one land day before flying home.

We fly out of Chicago on Lufthansa via connection in Munich and then on to Singapore. One the return we'll come from Lisbon to Chicago via Frankfurt. We got a much better airfare by using the same carrier from the US to Singapore and back from Europe. American Express Platinum offers and International Airline Program (IAP) that offers a 2-for-1 business class airfare but requires using the same airline throughout and returning to point of origin.

Watch for updates.
