“That’s a big tree.” – Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park guests

Did you know the thornless honeylocust (Gleditsia triacanthos) that stands outside Aspet is the largest in New Hampshire? It was planted in 1886 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and has been growing ever since. A large tree placed outside a house Is helpful in keeping the house cooler in summer months because of the shade it provides as well as attracting lightening so it does not hit the home.
