Built in 1897, Heavenhill is a quaint little cottage located on E. We named her Heavenhill due to the writing we found on a piece of the bead board ceiling: "Josephine Heavenhill + Little Louise Miller Jan. 1 1897 Cross of the Heart." This home was meant for me as my last name is Miller! And what a unique name; Heavenhill. Built on a bit of hill herself, that overlooked the old Brazos river (back before Lake Granbury), it was plain as day on what this ol' gal's name was going to be!

I refreshed my booth today! Lots of art including a brutalist MCM piece, a piece I painted (the gnome with mushrooms) then had custom framed. I have hand painted French glasses, Johnny Was blazer, hats, retro 1980s lego catalog complete with lego stickers, mink stole, a terrarium with pigs and crystals (art piece), Americana hand painted goose (love her!) and so much more! These past two years I have witnessed the steady decrease in reservations and I know I’m not the only one. My occupancy fell approximately 22%. I can see it happening again this year too. I’m here for the ups and downs and grateful I have a place to enjoy while it provides for itself. With rising inflation the profit margin gets smaller and smaller but I’ll keep on going! Unfortunately, i had to let go of my amazing housekeeper to save money.

I believe the decrease has many factors—more competition (so many more STRs to choose from!), Folks are traveling further away now that the pandemic is behind us, and also…groceries—what’s more important—food for your family or go on vacation?
