And we wonder why our lives don’t feel exciting enough. ✈️

What if one of the best summer 2026 trip ideas is closer than you think?

I’m hosting a West Michigan Creator Trip in early June, to showcase the all of the beauty and fun close to home.

Comment APPLY and I’ll send the application.

Calling all aspiring creators in Grand Rapids, Detroit, Chicago, and Northern Indiana area!

AND small businesses, restaurants, Airbnbs, and/or experiences in Holland, Grand Haven, and Muskegon!

WE NEED YOU!!

I’m attempting to recreate something I’ve only heard of on a massive scale…the “influencer trip.”

But instead of high profile influencers with millions of followers, I’m looking for up and coming real life creators who make relatable content.

Instead of exotic, hard to reach destinations, I’m featuring small towns and local communities in Michigan people can road trip or take an affordable long-weekend trip to.

Instead of hotels that cost a mortgage payment, I’m looking for locally owned Airbnbs and Vrbos where visitors can feel safe, clean, and comfortable.

Instead of bucket list experiences for the rich, I’m showcasing family accessible things to do so you can create lifelong memories.

Instead of restaurants with caviar and champagne, I’m looking for local dining options and farm to table restaurants where the food is outstanding, and their business fuels the local economy.

Sound like you or someone you know?

Applications are officially open for our West Michigan Creators Trip Summer 2026.

For more information and how to participate, comment APPLY and I’ll DM the link to you!

Can’t wait to bring so much awareness to the West Michigan community with you! 💥

Possible? Or not?

You guys sent me spiraling into a brainstorm of low budget marketing ideas that have the potential for massive social media impact, specifically for tinyyy businesses in my local community.

Here’s what I came up with:

Think Tarte Influencer trip meets West Michigan, on a smaller scale.

I would need to find 3-8 creators, ideally focused around travel content, who live in the Chicago, Detroit, northern Indiana area. Or who would be willing to drive to West Michigan.

They would have to be willing to come on this West Michigan Influencers trip in exchange for content (I know, not ideal…but if we play our cards right this could help you get massive reach too!)

Then I’d need to find an amazing Airbnb in the Holland, Grand Haven, Muskegon area who would be willing to give our influencers a place to stay for the weekend in early June, in exchange for content.

Next I’d need to partner with restaurants who can feed our influencers in exchange for content, as well as any local small business or services who would want to help entertain. Again, in exchange for content.

Obviously we’d go on a bike tour, and then I’m thinking things like any beach businesses want to provide paddle boards or a boat ride? Or a trolley ride? Things like that! They need to be special to our West Michigan community!

Oh, and if any small business want to donate merch, we’d love to show what you create! I know there are sooo many people who make incredible Michigan themed shirts and swag!

And of course, with a baby on the way, I need to figure all of this out in the next 2 weeks! 😬

I think it’s a streeeetch but possible. AND I know it would be AMAZING for our little community. But I need your help! If you know anyone who would fit any of those categories, PLEASE tag them below.

Let’s make this genius yet delusional marketing idea happen and create an influencer trip in West Michigan! 💪

Everyone’s freaking out about their reels blowing up and I’m over here like, um, how’s life?

I keep reminding myself, going viral isn’t everything. What matters is finding my tribe.

People who pick adventures over routine.

Who’d rather swap stories by the campfire than keep up with the latest Netflix show.

Who prioritize real talks over digital connections.

That’s why I started my bike rental and tour business, to get people outside, making memories, and building genuine connections.

If that’s you, hey! Glad you’re here. Let’s explore together—IRL or online! 🫶

Whatever you do, don’t add it to your summer bucket list!

Especially if you hate:
•less than 3 hour road trips from Chicago, Detroit, or Indiana…being in the car is the worst! 🚘
•laying out in the sunshine…skin cancer, common! ☀️
•reading a 5 star book…education & entertainment? I’d rather let my brain rot, thank you very much. 📖
•sand everywhere…some of the softest sand in the world though 🏖️
•fresh water lakes…wait, that’s not so bad 🌊
•no sharks…okay, maybe you’re on to something here 🤔
•golden sunsets over the shoreline…well, that does sound relaxing 🌅

😏

In all seriousness though…

As a lifetime local, I understand why some visitors feel overwhelmed when visiting Grand Haven in the height of summer.

It gets busy! That’s true.

But that doesn’t make it overrated.

Which is exactly why I started Mi Bike Tours. To help visitors experience Grand Haven like a local, without having to do any stressful planning themselves.

In the past 3 years, I’ve helped thousands of visitors experience the highlight of their summer in Grand Haven!

And if you’re thinking about a Michigan trip this summer, follow along for tips and itineraries to ensure you don’t leave Grand Haven thinking that it’s overrated.

I need your honest opinion and I need it ASAP.

As a small business owner, $675 is not a casual expense for me.

I have the opportunity to place a 1/12 page ad in the Shoreline Visitors Guide. It’s a free magazine distributed to visitors all along the lakeshore.

It sounds great in theory.

But here’s the reality:

At $50 per person for a tour, to break even I would need 14 people to book because of the ad.

To make it feel worth it (3X return), I would need 41 bookings directly from it.

That’s 41 people who…
•picked up the magazine
•noticed my tiny ad
•decided to book a bike tour

That feels like a big ask. But maybe I’m wrong?

So I want to know from you, when you travel:
•do you pick up visitors guides?
•do you actually read them?
•do you reference them more than once?
•do they influence what you do?

OR is your trip already planned before you arrive? Do you go online to blog posts and travel influencers to find things to do?

If you were me, what would you do?

Please vote in the poll and tell me why in the comments. I genuinely want to hear your reasoning!

➡️ Would you spend $675 for a 1/12 page ad in the Shoreline Visitors Guide?

Everyone’s posting about how their reels are blowing up and I’m like, babes, how are you doing that?

And then I remind myself, I don’t need to go viral to be successful.

I just need to find my people.

People who always pick the beach over the pool.

Ones who would rather watch the sunset over the lake than the newest trending show.

People who would rather catch up with friends over a coffee or drink than FaceTime or Snapchat.

The ones whose time outside is greater than their screen time.

That’s why I started this bike rental and bike tour business. To create a real life experience that brings our community closer together and gives you an opportunity to make genuine friendships and memories.

If that’s you, hi! I’m so glad the algorithm brought this to you and I can’t wait to meet you in real life someday soon!

But until then, we can be virtual friends who motivate each other to go outside and do something that makes you feel human again. 🫶

Allow me to reintroduce myself. 👋

I’m Alanna, your bike girl, your tour guide, Michigan trip planner, and life-long Great Lakes lover.

Over the past 3 summers, I’ve helped thousands of visitors experience Grand Haven in a way that feels like a local.

Not chaotic.
Not rushed.
Not “let’s figure it out when we get there.”

Intentional. Thoughtful. And most importantly, fun. 🎉

If you’re planning a Michigan beach trip and want it to feel smooth, stress-free, and genuinely enjoyable, you’re in the right place.

Summer is short, let’s do it well! 🫶

Before you book a single thing, read this.

Michigan is quite literally, one of the best places on Earth in the summer. For a long time, it was a well-kept secret.

🌊 The warm, unsalted, shark-free lakes.
🏖️ Beach towns that feel straight out of a movie set.
🌅 Golden hour that turns the entire shoreline into a painting.

But here’s what’s changed:

People found out, and started telling their friends and families.

Now that’s not a bad thing, but when 2 million + visitors show up in a small town like Grand Haven between June and August, the difference between a magical trip and a stressful one comes down to how you plan it.

Most people do it backwards.

The book dinner.
They make loose plans.
They assume they’ll “figure it out” once they arrive.

By Saturday afternoon they are circling for parking, waiting an hour for food, overstimulated, sweating, and snapping at each other.

Here’s what actually works (take it from me, a life-long local):

Build one, intentional experience into your weekend first.

Something that:
•gets your group moving
•shifts the energy
•feels different from your everyday life
•makes you feel like you’re in the town, not fighting it.

Then build everything else around that.

That’s exactly why I created Mi Bike Tours.

Not to add something to your trip, but to anchor it.

If you’re planning a beach weekend from Chicago, Detroit, Indiana, or anywhere else, follow along.

I’ll help you do it right!
