The world is getting smaller, faster, and more digitalâbut our kidsâ lives shouldn't feel like a series of "scrolls." đąâ
Lately, Iâve realized that travel isnât just about the stamps in a passport. Itâs about the "unplugged" moments that an algorithm simply canât replicate.
Itâs that electric, whispered "Look!" when a black bear wanders past the cabin window in Gatlinburg. In that split second, the phone screens lose their pull. The YouTube loops and the notifications vanish, replaced by wide eyes and bated breath. đťâ¨
In a world thatâs increasingly impersonal, travel is our familyâs "reset" button. Itâs where my kids learn:
⢠Real-World Wonder: Because seeing a bear in the wild is a thousand times more powerful than Googling one. đď¸
⢠Patience: Because you canât "refresh" the mountains or force the mist to clear; you just have to be still and wait for the magic to happen.
⢠Presence: Because the most important connection isn't the Wi-Fi signalâitâs the one sitting right next to us on the porch.
We donât travel to escape life; we travel so that lifeâreal, raw, unfiltered lifeâdoesn't escape us. Weâre trading "likes" for looks of wonder and notifications for real-time conversations.
Itâs not always "Instagram-perfect" behind the scenes, but itâs the most honest way I know to show them they belong to a big, beautiful, physical world. đ˛đ
When was the last time your family was so captivated by something in nature that you completely forgot your phones existed? Tell me about that moment below. đ
