California Pass is a nice way to access Cinnamon Pass, and Engineer Pass without enduring Mineral Creek. It is moderately steep, not rocky, but a bit slick with sand and gravel. You get to visit the ghost town Animas Forks. There are restrooms in Animas Forks.

Help these babies!! There are 4 more on the cold pass. I'm looking into updates.

These ~4-month-old puppies were just found on Cottonwood Pass between Gypsum and Carbondale at MM 7.
The finder reports 3-4 more puppies that they couldn't catch. Eagle County Animal Control has been contacted and is heading that way.
