Last week my wife and I took a cruise with my brother and his family. They were celebrating their children graduating from high school and college. Our cruise was to the western Caribbean onboard the Adventure of the Seas, with Royal Caribbean. The ship was really nice! The days at sea were filled with taking in the sunshine on the pool deck, enjoying some of the scheduled events onboard, eating lots of really great food, comedy shows, musical acts, karaoke, and hitting the casino. The onboard evening meals were themed, and we enjoyed Italian, French, Caribbean, and Mexican cuisine where drinks, appetizers, main courses, and desserts were aligned with the themed meals.
Our first port visit of the trip was to Grand Cayman. After departing the ship, we took a catamaran to go swimming with stingrays and snorkeling over one of the local reefs. We had some light rain at the start of the boat ride but by midday the sky was clear and the sun shined the rest of the day.
Our second port visit was Falmouth, Jamaica. A huge rain storm cast over the area the whole day, but fortunately for us, we planned a day trip ATV ride on an old sugar plantation. The rain actually made the trip more fun since there were lots of mud puddles to splash through. We got to learn about the local history of this area and the guides were excellent.
Our last port visit was to Perfect Day Coco Cay. After arriving at our adults-only pool area and cabana, we decided to go over to the other side of the island and do some more snorkeling. This island was a highlight for us to unwind on our last day. We spent the whole day soaking up the Caribbean drinks, cool breeze, salt water, and sunshine.
This was my first vacation cruise and I highly recommend! We look forward to the next one.
