Delivering More Than Just a Meal
Today marks one year since the great Total Solar Eclipse! We are still deeply grateful for the incredible generosity and unwavering support from our community, which has been a cornerstone of our committee's success. Even though the Eclipse was last year, our efforts to give back to the community still continue today.
In March, our Moosehead Lake Event Planning Committee had the privilege of delivering lunch and dinner to some of our community’s most valuable residents—our elderly. What started as a simple meal delivery turned into something far greater.
Last year, we formed this group to welcome the total solar eclipse and, through our collective efforts, raised over $25,000 to give back to our town. One of our final promises was to use these funds to make a meaningful impact— and we delivered on that promise.
What we didn’t expect was how much this experience would move us. The smiles, the gratitude, the stories shared over a warm meal—each moment was a reminder of how vital and often overlooked this population is. Many of these individuals don’t have frequent visitors, and while some receive care from family or facilities, there are few opportunities for them to gather, connect, and feel the full embrace of the community around them.
As we made our deliveries, a conversation sparked among our team: What more can we do? How can we create more moments of joy, more opportunities for connection, and more ways to remind our elderly that they are seen, valued, and cherished?
This isn’t the end of our efforts—it’s just the beginning. Our next meal delivery is planned for May 19th, and we want to spread the word further. If you know someone who could benefit, or if you'd like to get involved in any way—whether through volunteering, donations, or simply sharing this message—please reach out.
Together, we can do more. ❤️
