It’s 2010—the New Orleans Saints are destined to win the Super Bowl, LCD Soundsystem is about to hit their peak, Instagram has just launched, and isn’t even on the radar. That’s when our founder, Erik Ekman, had a bold vision: to convert Mercedes Sprinters into off-grid adventure rigs built to haul both gear and people deep into nature.

For this , we’re celebrating one of our earliest builds: The Mothership. This multi-sport 170 was capable of carrying boards, bikes, and everything in between. It came equipped with a rear shower, hydrodipped vent covers, reupholstered seats, and set the design standard that helped shape Outside Van into what it is today.
