The OISA supports Grinnell’s international and global nomad students and Exchange Visitors. We use this page to communicate with a broad audience of students, staff, faculty, alumni, parents and families, and participants in Friends of International Students, etc. We try to share a glimpse of the variety of activities that international Grinnelians lead, initiate, and participate in. We also try to offer relevant information and updates regarding campus resources and relevant regulatory issues. Finally, we hope the page will help us maintain an engaged network who are dedicated to making Grinnell an international-student-friendly campus! Last Thursday, we had a great time at the IPOP Reunion. We had Dari Barn, Jenga, bubbles, stilt-walking, and another opportunity for IPOP mentors to showcase their dance moves.
The best part of the event, of course, was when everyone present promised to read all future OISA FYI emails 🤭

And with that, the IPOP season comes to an end.

🐿️ IPOP’27 Day 5 Recap:

For the last day of IPOP, students learned about their medical needs and resources, played games like Yan Koloba and Buddy Up, Buddy Down. Then, they exchanged gifts from around the world, sharing a piece of home with one another.
For lunch, IPOP visited CRSSJ to learn about community resources and plant some seeds. After dinner, we had All-POP with badminton, hula hoops, açaí bowls, bubbles and a lot of dancing.

Venturing into town

🐿️ IPOP’27 Day 4 Recap:

After getting started with Sprintax Calculus, students learned about life in the United States, especially how important it is to layer during the winter. Then, our traditional Scavenger Hunt happened in the afternoon, with Beatriz’s group taking the win! After dinner, Friends of International Students joined for dessert, giving first-years a chance to share their stories and talk about home.

Another fun day at IPOP!

🐿️ IPOP’27 Day 3 Recap:

On Tuesday, students learned about academic life at Grinnell College by attending the Academic Success Panel and asking questions directly to faculty members. They completed their SSN applications and received important information about their F-1 status.
After the information sessions, students had fun making their own animal plushies and adding more glitter to Tilly’s popular glitter truck. In the evening, they had a variety of activities to choose from, including rock painting, card games, basketball, and ultimate frisbee.

To end the day, students visited the Gale Observatory to enjoy a beautiful night under the stars.

Soccer, Chalk & Bubbles day!

🐿️ IPOP’27 Day 2 Recap:

On Monday morning, our students went shopping, picked up their orders from the mailroom, and toured campus.
In the afternoon, they participated in the IPOP kickoff ceremony, took a group picture, attended the More Culture, Less Shock information session, and had dinner with their Dos Amigos groups. After dinner, students enjoyed soccer, chalk & bubbles until after the sun went down.

Families and guests participated in the Dessert & Discussion event at the Admissions Office.
