Our 10-Day Mammoth to Yosemite Backpacking Summer Camp is in its second year of sending kids beyond Yosemite’s boundaries into the Eastern Sierra Nevada and hiking their way back. This trip is not easy by any means, but it offers opportunities for challenges and the growth that comes with them, along with the ridiculously beautiful landscape along the John Muir Trail and beyond. 🏕️🥾⛰️

We’ve been leading people up Half Dome for 30 years now. One of the most common questions we get about this hike is, how hard is it really? These are the things we believe make a day-hike to Half Dome challenging. Anything you would add?

It’s always a sad time of year: the end of Summer Camp season. 😥 We had an outstanding time out there this year, and we think the kids did, too! It’s never too early to start planning for next summer’s amazing adventures in the outdoors. We’ve got our 2027 schedule up on the site; come and pick the dates and trips that might just be perfect for you or your child. 🏕️🥾

Just another day in the life of a Summer Camp backpacking trip in Yosemite. Breakfast at 8, hiking somewhere epic by noon, watching the alpenglow with the sunset from your sleeping bag at 9. Sighhhh. This is the life.
