(Sept 5)Fun little day for my crew. We had to redirect a bit because of how many boats were out fishing, but we smashed the Vermillions on our very first stop! Afterwards we ran around trying to find the AJ bite with minimal luck. Plenty of fish were marking on a lot of spots but no bites until later in the day. All said and done, they lost one real good jack to the reef, and the other 4 were too short. On top of their 30 Vermillions, they pulled a really nice Almaco, a Lane Snapper, their limit of Red Snapper and various other throwbacks. We got rained on for a few minutes but it was a beautiful day out there!

(September 4)We got a little beat up and spent most of our day with wet feet, but it was definitely worth it! I had to change plans a bit to avoid the lightning, but we landed on good fish pretty quick. James is a 4x+ repeat, his wife Courtney finally came along and they tag-teamed some beautiful fish!

(Trip from Aug 28) Brandon & Michael had a nice little father/son outing. The fish were chewing, seas were calm, and there were tons of clouds around to keep us cool. It really felt like fall shifted into gear out there Friday. Maybe we will get some Fall fishing weather this year instead of going straight from Summer to Winter.

(Trip from August 20) Chad and his wife wanted to have time to do some trolling and bottom fishing, so they booked a 7hr. We didn’t have any luck dragging around for Spanish and other nearshore species, but we did find a Bobo and a King offshore. We hit a couple Trigger reefs but no keepers were hungry. The current was still ripping on the reefs past 5 miles, but we landed on a nice pile of Vermillion and caught up enough grunts to go after these Barracuda. Great day for these two!

(Trips August 18&19) We had an EXTREMELY strong current that I just couldn’t seem to find my way out of these two days, and it made for some really tough fishing. I needed to hold up with the outboard almost entirely for one trip. I had a 3 man crew then a 1 man, so they did go home with a little something for dinner each trip.

(Trip from August 16) This young man asked to go fishing for his 9th birthday. It was the family’s first time offshore and it seemed like they really enjoyed it! Unfortunately I didn’t get any good solo pictures of Kannon, but he fished hard and helped to catch up their limit. Sounds like he has already caught the fever, i’m pretty sure i’ll see them back out there. Remember to take your kids fishing!

It was a little choppy out there yesterday for my crew from Arkansas, so we mixed it up a bit. The reef fish were really chewing, but everyone was getting sickly from sitting on anchor so we swapped over to trolling lures. After an hour we had only boated one Bonita, so they decided to set up in calm waters and use their remaining time trying for a shark. We didn’t get lucky on that fresh shark bait, but the hope was there and the radio was playing good tunes!

Check out how calm it was on Tuesday! I hit a bunch of trigger holes during the first half of their trip, but I only found the little guys. We eventually landed on a good bite of Vermillion, and they pulled limits plus the one Lane. There were lots of Barracuda around again, we just couldn’t get one to eat on wire. Fun little father/son trip, remember to take your kids fishing!
