Days 6 Mykonos
Today our cruise ship docked in Mykonos. I had already booked a sailing trip but we wanted to check out the town area first. We walked off the cruise ship- and after a short struggle- found the cab stand. We took a cab to Mykonos town square.
Because I have been here before, I had a general idea of places to go and see. I also wanted to have lunch by the water. But, we were on a time schedule so that we could make it back in time for our sailing excursion. I will never see the beautiful white walls and vibrant colored flowers as normal. They are simply beautiful!
We walked the cobblestone streets, took photos, saw the famous windmills and had an incredible lunch by the water. If you are not seeing a theme here…I am enjoying the food way too much. But, seriously, check out that pizza. We ended up running out of time and walking away with most of it boxed up. But it was delicious!
We made it back to port just in time to join our excursion crew and walk to our sail boat/ pirate ship. As soon as I saw on our ticket “Parents are advised that n**e sunbathing is permitted”- I knew it would be a good time! I booked this trip through the cruise ship. I never got the name of the company. It was a bit windy and “cold” for my daughter. Along the sail we saw so many beautiful homes, hotels, yachts and people. Mikonos is certainly an island of beauty and wealth. We anchored at a couple of beaches to swim. We opted out of swimming when several people jumped in and right out again… purple lips and all.
In Paraga Beach our boat came a little too close to a fancy yacht. Fancy yacht protectors called the police. So, we officially had a police encounter in Mykonos!
Sail, swim, and sunbathe! We also had amazing snacks….spinach and cheese pie, olives, tzatziki, and refreshing juices, bottled soft drinks and water AND WINE. We then made a short second anchor drop at Super Paradise beach, considered one of the liveliest and most beautiful on Mykonos.
It was an absolutely amazingly beautiful day. See photos and captions for more details.
