Looks like we're getting a little taste of spring this week. Just because we're going into the season when the pool gets used
less often, don't neglect your pool. Chemical shocking and/or chemical imbalance takes a lot of life out of the equipment, pvc components and liner. Its better to maintain the pool yearround.

If you have a leak, don't let it go. It may cost a little more to
repair a leak in the winter, but an unattended leak will usually
cause more damage if not repaired. The pool shell and the supporting soil will errode from leaking water. Also it will be
very difficult if not improssible to maintain chemical balance
if you are loosing water. Its bests to get the leaks spotted and
repaired as soon as you discover that the pool is leaking.

If you think your pool is leaking, call John @ 850-932-3817. He
will coach you through some simple tests to determine if its actually leaking, how bad the leak is and where the leak might be.

Although a pool can have hundreds of different leaks, they can
all be divided into three main types. The leak will either be in the equipment, in the "in-ground" plumbing, or in the pool structure itself.
If its in the equipment, you can usually see dampness or
a puddle, or more likely a drip, somewhere around the pump or
filter. If its in the pool structure, which is most common, its probably going to require a pool dive. Sometimes these leaks
are simple and sometimes they're not.
If its in the underground plumbing, it can be confirmed with a pressure test, and then located with specialized "listening" equipment. This will eliminate the need to tear up the whole
yard trying to find the leak.

Sometimes a pool may appear to be leaking when its only evaporation. Evaporation rates vary depending on several
factors like sunshine, humidity, wind, etc. Just take a bucket
and set in on the step in the pool and fill it as high inside, as
the pool water comes up on the outside of the bucket. You
may have to weight it with a rock or brick to keep it from
floating away. If the water drops in the pool faster than in
the bucket, you have a leak.
