What a great day it was taking vets out for the annual Ironman Ministries Veterans fishing day. Thanks to Festus Potee for arranging and Capt. Michael Stuckey and 1st Mate Noah Stuart putting them on the fish and providing a fun and safe atmosphere and all the prep and work afterwards. And always thank you to Capt. Ken Tompkins for setting us up every year and making sure things run smooth.

The BIGGEST thank you of all goes to the veterans for leaving a blank check for America to cash. Also, a big thank you to the families supporting their loved ones while they served and after.

On behalf of Third Coast Thunder Charters on the Deo Volente’, Captains Michael and Ken and Noah, we thank you!

CHARTER FLEET GETS LONGER RED SNAPPER SEASON:

NOAA Fisheries has announced the 2026 recreational red snapper season for federally permitted for-hire vessels in the Gulf of America.

The season will last 147 days, providing charter and headboat operations with nearly five months to target one of the Gulf's most popular sportfish.

This represents a 19-day increase from the 2025 season. The extended season was determined using recent catch-rate data and average landed-fish weights.

The season will open at 12:01 a.m., local time, on June 1, 2026, and end at 12:01 a.m., local time, on October 26, 2026. These dates apply only to vessels holding a federal for-hire reef fish permit.
