As of this morning, Share the Beach has documented 75 nests along the Alabama Gulf Coast! Moving into July, we will continue to see lots of new nests being laid, along with our earlier nests beginning to hatch out.
Remember to never approach nesting sea turtles or hatchlings, and keep those white lights off the beach at night! Sea turtles navigate to the water by the white light of the moon and stars over the water. White lights higher on the beach cause them to go the wrong way and can scare adult females away from nesting. If you see a turtle on the beach, STAY BACK (at least 40'), STAY LOW (and behind them), STAY QUIET, and call our hotline to report! 866-SEA-TURTLE.
