One of my favorite adventures on the park beach in gulf shores was to get to watch a turtle nest hatching with the assistance of volunteers on my morning walk. I am sharing a video below:

If you're headed to Gulf Shores this summer be sure to take advantage of the FREE bike rentals at Gulf State Park. There are miles of trails and boardwalks where you can enjoy the natural beauty of the dunes, swamps and woods. This March we were lucky to be there when the baby eagles were getting ready to fledge. It was so much fun to watch them pop up and down in the nest while mom and dad were diving into the lake for their food. The park has put a platform out (not too close to the nest) with mounted scopes so you can get a good look at the nest and eagles. It is far enough away so that my pictures weren't very good. Last week we went to Fairhope to shop and have lunch. We had lunch at Locals, a quaint restaurant in a flower draped between Fairhope Ave and De La Mare Ave. The food is sourced locally and always exceptional. On our way back to the condo in Gulf Shores we stopped by the Weeks Bay Pitcher Plant Bog. These are carnivorous plants that trap their pray. Maxx enjoyed the walk along the boardwalk.

Five years ago we bought a condo in Gulf Shores and embarked on a wonderful discovery of a beach town that has not only a beautiful beach but so much else.
