SERIES ON LITTLE YELLOW HOUSE REMODEL: I know I’ve been teasing you all with this but I finally think I can get everything together and give you a bit about our move to Cedar Creek Lake and just why we are running behind on these updates. I am unable to do a blog like I did for my Plano kitchen but here goes….
When we moved to the “ranch” I knew the first thing that had to be addressed were the walls and CEILINGS in this little house. They had heavy texture and were painted gray. We hired a crew from Dallas (thanks to our son-in-law Zach) to come down for a week. They sanded the walls and ceiling, retextured, and painted. I chose 2 shades of white/off-white paint and I was also able to add new simple baseboards.
I was extremely pleased with the results. Now with a clean slate, I could think about the furniture and decor. Craig and I sold so much furniture before we moved down here but I kept a few choice pieces that I was hoping to use, such as my beautiful dining table and velvet chairs, a console, and a single small church pew. Remember, for those of you who followed me on the matching pews were in Blake Shelton & Gwen Steffani’s wedding!!!! So the only thing I needed to purchase immediately was a couch. I opted for an all white sectional and added color by using throw pillows and a big rug. We also changed out the ceiling fan. Craig is planning to create a TV wall using the modern wood panels and create some storage. Right now we simply have a few panels just pushed up against the wall to get a good visual. I also found a square coffee table on FB Marketplace and added some very modern leather chairs to the corner.
But for now, the biggest project was done and my creative juices started flowing! Stay tuned for more...
