Fall has been beautiful throughout the Gunnison Valley this season. 🍂

And with a mixed-season snowfall last week, winter is right around the corner! We'll miss the fleeting beauty of Colorado autumn, but we're also stoked for what's ahead.

Be prepared for mixed weather when venturing out on the trails. Bring warm layers, let someone know where you're going, and check the forecast before exploring.

Fall riding is here in Gunnison! 🚲

And the trails are riding so nice in both Hartman Rocks + Signal Peak areas.

• Hartman Rocks Recreation Area is known for its desert terrain with rocky + technical cross country trails that can be looped together to make for some amazing rides for all levels!

• Signal Peak Recreational Trails are beginner-friendly and easy to access, running adjacent to the campus. These trails, open to non-motorized traffic, traverse rolling sagebrush hills + provide gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains.

Remember fall riding can sometimes mean surprise muddy or snowy conditions. So be sure to keep an eye on weather conditions, be prepared, and stay off muddy trails.

Welcome to the Gunnison Valley hunters! 🧡

With first r***e season starting this week, it’s a good idea to wear blaze orange or other bright colors to make sure you’re seen out there if you are planning on adventuring out into the woods. If you’re here to fill your tag, hunters must wear at least 500 square inches of solid fluorescent orange or pink material + hat, visible from all angles.

Keep in mind: New tag rules are being implemented this season:
Over-the-counter (OTC) bull elk licenses were eliminated in the northern Gunnison Basin beginning with the 2026 hunting season. This change applies to the second and third r***e seasons in Game Management Units (GMUs) 54, 55, and 551.

Fall is extra beautiful in this historic town in the Gunnison Valley! And there is so much to do this time of year!

Hit the trails: Take a hike to a waterfall or bike on the beautiful trails.

Hit the road: Take the backroads on one of the beautiful scenic drives and gravel rides through the area! Just be sure if you’re driving to be in an all wheel drive vehicle and to respectfully share the road.

Gothic is also home to , a high altitude biological field station where scientists and students have been doing research for over 95 years! The Coffee Lab may be closed this time of year, but give them a follow to learn more about the history + the research they do.
