This stunning Guntersville Post Office was erected in 1941 and ran until 2007 when a new one was built. Constructed in the Colonial Revival Style at a cost of $115,000 from the Public Works Agency, the post office offered state-of-the art equipment including a stamp cancelling machine.

A painting known as "Indians Receiving Gifts'' is located inside. The mural was the creation of a Florida artist, Charles Russell Hardman, who painted murals in 22 other post offices in Alabama with funds from the U.S. Treasury Department.

The building is on the National Register of Historic Places. You can stroll past when you in downtown to admire its beauty next time you .

Have you heard of Painted Bluff near the Guntersville Dam? This bluff features Native American drawings that date back 600 years ago when they called this land home. There are 80 red, yellow and orange symbolic images that include people, ovals, circles, snakes, birds and other animals. TVA manages Painted Bluff and works to keep it clean and preserve it for years to come. If you do decide to check it out, please leave the area as you found it.
