Whale, it’s a date. Pod. Party of 2.
Humpback whales are fairly independent and form temporary pods when feeling a bit more social during feeding season.

The great affair, the love affair with life, is to live as variously as possible, to groom one's curiosity like a high-spirited thoroughbred, climb aboard, and gallop over the thick, sun-struck hills every day. Where there is no risk, the emotional terrain is flat and unyielding, and, despite all its dimensions, valleys, pinnacles, and detours, life will seem to have none of its magnificent geography, only a length.

Tod Sebens- Captain

Beginning his marine career as a Senior Marine Diesel Mechanic in the U.S. Army in 1974, Tod has cultivated a close connection with the sea for many years. From sailing around Mexico with his brother in his early twenties, to pursuing any opportunity to SCUBA dive, even diving with great white sharks in Africa, Tod seeks adventure and the water is his playground.

The isolation of Alaska certainly did not scare him away, since after all, he had already spent four seasons in Antarctica working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in remote field stations. Since 1983, he and his brother have co-owned Denali Boat Works in Haines, Alaska, where he and his family have lived for the past 28 years. After living in such harsh environments, Tod has developed a deep respect for the natural world, and is an avid supporter of the shark conservation project Shark Savers. His innumerable hours at sea and USCG Captain's License equip Tod with the necessary skills to ensure a safe tour for both guests and the whales being watched. If you are looking for a fun, engaging and informative tour, call us today. We look forward to meeting you!
