Happy , Day 4! Today we're highlighting the incredible Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail. ๐Ÿž๏ธ This amazing trail follows the historic route of the Potomac River, offering breathtaking views, rich history, and fantastic opportunities for hiking, biking, and exploring.

Just some of the history along the Trail ranges from 14,000 years ago and settlements of Indigenous Peoples, to Revolutionary War - George Washington was enamored with the River and foresaw its potential for Commerce. During the Civil War it served as the boundary between the Union and Confederate armies.

Of the approx 400 miles, about 83 miles border Washington County - Discover our charming towns, significant historical sites, and stunning natural beauty along this trail which runs congruously to the C&O Canal, so viewing it is easy!

Happy Day 3 - Today we celebrate Antietam National Battlefield-located entirely in Washington County. Step back in time in this place of profound historical significance. Walk the fields where the course of the Civil War shifted, and reflect on the incredible human stories etched into this landscape. Did you know that President Lincoln issued the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation just days after the Battle of Antietam? This pivotal document declared that enslaved people in Confederate-held territory would be freed, officially declaring the meaning and purpose of the war. Come witness history!

๐ŸŒŽ & , day #2 ๐Ÿž๏ธ! Today, we highlight one of our 5 National Parks, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park: this iconic view of the town is taken from Maryland Heights, in our portion of the Park. While the town of Harpers Ferry is over the river in West Virginia, the Park itself spans across MD, VA and West VA. It is a shining example of the transformative power of preservation and conservation.๐ŸŒŸ

We we love this video about the Road Museum in Boonsboro. The video creator, Joe Nation of Charity Pants, happened to stop in the museum while visiting! Here is what he said about this wonderful donation to the museum:
I was driving through Boonsboro, Maryland, and decided to visit The National Road Museum. The volunteers there were incredibly welcoming, and I offered to create a free video showcasing the museum. They were excited about the idea, and Iโ€™m happy to have had the chance to contribute in this small way.
