6 shifts are redefining the MICE mandate in 2026.
Our industry used to be measured by how smoothly an event ran. Today it’s measured by what the event achieves. Here’s what we’re seeing, and what each shift means for your next program:
1️⃣ Purpose over logistics. Clients no longer ask “Is it well organized?” They ask “Did it move the business?” Every program needs a clear objective before the venue is chosen.
2️⃣ ESG as the baseline. Sustainability is no longer a differentiator, it’s a procurement requirement. Expect it in RFPs, not just in brand values.
3️⃣ The rise of second cities. Emerging destinations offer fresher experiences, better value and less saturation. Your group doesn’t need the obvious choice to have a remarkable one.
4️⃣ Wellness-first design. Sleep, nutrition, movement and downtime are now part of the agenda, not a bonus. Better-rested teams make better use of the content.
5️⃣ Hyper-personalization. One-size-fits-all programs are fading. Attendees expect experiences shaped around who they are, from dietary needs to interests to travel style.
6️⃣ Local connection. Groups want to feel the destination, not just visit it. Local partners, cuisine and culture turn a standard program into a story people remember and talk about.
The common thread: the best programs in 2026 are designed backward, from the outcome to the experience.
