The 2027 PMEA Music Performance Assessments Calendar is live.

Directors, it's time to start planning. Music Performance Assessments give your ensembles a chance to perform for experienced adjudicators, get useful feedback, and see how much they've grown. There are assessments for:

Band and Orchestra
Choral
Jazz
Solo and Small Ensemble

PMEA SMTE members joined music teacher educators and researchers from across the country at the 2026 Biennial NAfME Music Research and Teacher Education Conference, held September 30 to October 3. For four days they presented research, swapped ideas and had important conversations about how we prepare the next generation of music educators.

Thank you to our members for sharing your expertise and bringing it home to Pennsylvania's colleges, universities and classrooms. The future of music education starts with strong teacher preparation, and our PMEA colleagues are helping lead the way.
