The next two days of our journey included a visit to Maison et Jardins de Claude Monet, and a Champagne Excursion to the houses of Taittinger and Mercier. There is not a better way to conclude the first part of our adventure than with the bubbles and cork popping of champagne!

The Normandy journey continues
With a visit to Mont St. Michel, a village perched on a tidal island located in the mouth of the River Couesnon. The Mont is surrounded by water and sand flats, the granite outcrops crowned by an abbey that took 500 years to build. There are over 350 steps to the abbey and once on top the views are magnificent. Although it rained and the skies were grey, we truly enjoyed this architectural masterpiece.

We depart for Normandy on our journey. This day was filled with emotions. We listened intently to a tour guide whose knowledge and animation of the D-Day Events was so powerful and exciting to listen to. Matilde brought the memories to life as we walked the beaches and the gravesites.
