Behind every strong woman is someone who shows up.

Becky said it herself — when she went through her breast cancer diagnosis, Lee was “ultra supportive.” That’s the kind of understatement only someone who lived it would use.

This week Becky shared something personal with all of you. The response meant a great deal to our family. Thank you!

We don't take lightly the trust this community places in us — and that trust goes both ways. Whether it's something much harder than a broken furnace, or a heating emergency at midnight, showing up is just what we do. It always has been.

On that note — here's this week's question. ☕️ SATURDAY MORNINGS: Ask Lee!

Today's Question:
"Lee — what should I do if my heat stops working in the middle of the night? Do I just wait until morning or is there something I can try first?"

Lee's Answer:

Don't panic — and don't call anyone at 2am until you've checked a few things first. Most middle-of-the-night heating failures have a simple cause that you can rule out yourself in five minutes.

Here's what to check before you call:

✅ Thermostat settings. Make sure it's set to heat and the temperature is set above the current room temperature. It sounds obvious, but it's the first thing we ask every time.

✅ Thermostat batteries. A dead thermostat battery is one of the most common reasons a heating system appears to fail. Swap them out and try again.

✅ Circuit breaker. Go to your electrical panel and check whether the breaker for the furnace or air handler has tripped. If it has, reset it once. If it trips again immediately, stop — that's a sign of an electrical issue and it's time to call.

✅ Filter. A severely clogged filter can cause a furnace to overheat and shut itself off as a safety measure. If your filter is overdue, replace it, then wait 30 minutes before restarting the system.

✅ Power switch on the unit. Most furnaces have a power switch that looks like a light switch, usually on the unit itself or nearby on the wall. Make sure it hasn't been accidentally switched off.

If you've checked all of those and the system still isn't producing heat — that's when you call. Comfort Technology offers 24/7 emergency service. We'd rather you call us at 2am than wake up to a cold house.
