Last week The Calumet Free Fridge received a call from a Mother and Grandparent that was on their way to rescue their daughter and grandchild from a very abusive situation!

The Mother and Grandparent was 4 hours away and was asking for help with a safe place to stay for a few days with her family?

As I talked about the options and set up sometime the next day to go over more options, I could sense HOPE in their voice!

For YEARS, The Calumet Free Fridge and Food Pantry Programs has offered HOPE in many ways to people in need in our community and beyond!

Thank You.......

In the spirit of Community Unity, we will be collecting donations for Calumet Free Fridge at LGBTQ+ Keweenaw Pridefest 2025.

Keweenaw Report............

For three years Keweenaw Qu**rs has felt great support from the local community. Growing from a few dozen friends at the park to organizing the third annual Keweenaw Pridefest in Calumet. Organization president Emily Stanton says this year’s theme of community will lead up to June 7th, when Pridefest will collect items for the Calumet Free Fridge.

And it’s a great, completely local non-profit that offers free food and other things like toiletries, toys, winter jackets, boots, and other random miscellaneous things completely free to the community. I believe Ron said that they serve about 500 families. That number could be growing. You’d have to check with Ron. But because we’ll be very close to it at the Calumet Coliseum. This year our theme is community unity. We thought we should show up for the community who shows up for us. – Emily Stanton

PrideFest plans to collect non-perishable food items, and essential non-food items including new socks, lightly used jackets, clothes, kids’ books, and toiletries. Over the weekend Keweenaw Qu**rs hosted an open mic fundraiser for Pridefest and plans to partner with the Keweenaw Roller Derby for a chuck a whipplewheel fundraiser in between matches on May 24th.

Those interested in supporting Keweenaw Pridefest can learn more about fundraising events, sponsorship opportunities, and volunteering at the event online.

Nancy and I speak often about the Blessings in life!

We talk about when Much has been given....Much is Expected!

It was about 10,950 days ago, my family began the Wonderful Journey of serving our Community through The Office Shop!

Now that we can see the end of that jouney in 903 days, it is our Desire and Hope as we travel across the country, we can fellowship with so many regarding the miracles that have happened here with The Calumet Free Fridge and Food Pantry Programs!

Calumet Free Fridge

I truly believe that by sharing the Hundreds of Amazing Stories and Miracles that have happened in our community because of the Love of so many, that several food pantries will sprout and grow across this Great Country!

Calumet Free Fridge

The Office Shop is doing everything possible to stay and serve our community when I leave.

If The Office Shop sells in 6 months, then I will mentor if asked for as long as possible at No Charge up until November 1, 2027.

If The Office Shop does not sell as a Business and continue to serve the community in many ways as it has since 1946, The inventory will be sold, and the building will be rented to a new business or bigger Food Pantry Project!

The Calumet Free Fridge continues to serve more people each and every WEEK! We need your help to continue to offer HOPE to EVERYONE who needs a helping hand....NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

Calumet Free Fridge

It has been such a GIFT and BLESSING to be a part of something Truly Magical and Special in our Community!

Calumet Free Fridge

Thank you!

What do we leave behind?

https://www.facebook.com/calumetfreefridge/

Thirty years ago, when I took over ownership of The Office Shop, I had a vision.

That first year when that call came at 11:00 pm, explaining that the school report was due in the morning and they ran out of ink......

How can I help?

Each time that happened.....I got out of bed and drove to The Office Shop and made sure that school report was ready the next day.

As I prepare for the next chapter of my life in the years that lie ahead, I will do everything in my power to find a replacement person or Group to continue to run The Calumet Free Fridge and Food Pantry Programs.

https://www.facebook.com/calumetfreefridge/

I have slightly under 900 days, and I have already started a conversation with a few people in our community on how to continue to offer HOPE to the 630 families in need each and every month that come to The Office Shop.

As Nancy and I travel around the country, our goal will be to share the MIRACLES that our COMMUNITY made happen with The Calumet Free Fridge and Food Pantry Programs!

https://www.facebook.com/calumetfreefridge/

The goal is to have dozens of Local Food Pantry Programs in Dozens of States that offer HOPE to tens of Thousands in need!

Even if The Office Shop in Calumet does not live on....The Calumet Free Fridge and Food Pantry Programs should live on in our community!

I Promise to continue to provide HOPE, Love and Compassion each and Every day that we are here at The Office Shop! There is still so much to be done, and your Donations are Truly Appreciated by so many!!
