This drink is the only photo I have from lunch at San Angel Inn for several reasons.

The food was great! I wish I could share it with you. But the company was even better and we were on a serious time crunch and the photography just got away from me.

We took a little field trip this morning to a special store for cast members and their guests. After lunch, we were heading to our VIP tour and because that tour was going to end at Magic Kingdom after Epcot closed, so it was not a smart plan to park the car at Epcot. I knew this and we discussed it and then I accidentally just pulled into the Epcot parking lot when I should have been taking the car back to park it at the resort 😵‍💫. I realized it RIGHT as we were about to pull into the parking space, aborted mission, and drove back to the Polynesian to park the car. But because of the wasted time touring the Epcot parking lot, we ran out of time to reliably get back via monorail, so we had to take a Minnie Van and BOOK IT to the Mexico pavilion to make out lunch reservation. Phew.

Before lunch, we were supposed to have time to shop and hop on the Gran Fiesta Tour starring the Three Caballeros, but with running late, we had to eat lunch efficiently to be able to squeeze in our other activities after lunch.

The reason I’m sharing this story is so that when I say that you need to leave extra space in your itinerary for the unexpected and when I encourage you to keep your dining reservations in the primary park you’re visiting, you can understand why. Walt Disney World is the size of Manhattan and while transportation is very efficient, there is simply a lot of ground to cover.

Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is constantly reinventing itself. I am lamenting the departure of the giant potsticker, but the individual ones (like the kind they serve at Tambu Lounge) are good, too. The crab & shrimp Mac & cheese was ok, but if you’re also looking for a replacement for the lobster Mac from Nomad Lounge, I expect we’ll need to keep shopping. The current version of the Kona menu isn’t my favorite, but the only thing constant at this restaurant is change, so check the menu and if you see something that looks appealing, give it a shot. It oscillates pretty frequently between amazing and decent.

Katsura Grill in Epcot doesn’t get a lot of love. In fact, quick service in Epcot in general is under-discussed because the festivals and the ethnic table service offerings overshadow the quick service options. But this one is really good.

Delicious ramen, the salad with the tasty ginger dressing from every hibachi restaurant, all set by a serene koi pond…what’s not to love!

Have you ever been to Katsura Grill? Would you like to try it?

We spent some time at the Seas with Nemo & Friends during our trip this summer. We get a lot of questions about whether or not Epcot is kid-friendly because a lot of people associate this park with drinking around the world. And sure, that’s an activity that some people participate in. But there are also GREAT family attractions like this, the 9th largest aquarium in the world (2nd largest in the U.S. behind Georgia Aquarium).

At any given time, you can see rays, sea turtles, sharks, dolphins, manatees, and more either through the fabulous viewing area at the end of the Finding Nemo ride or in the Coral Reef restaurant. You can also visit smaller species like clownfish & blue tangs and seahorses. Plus you can interact with Crush from Finding Nemo in real time at Turtle Talk with Crush.

This pavilion is a great return on wait time investment. For a total line wait of less than 20 minutes, you can easily spend an hour exploring this pavilion.

When you’re born 6’ tall, it’s really hard to tell the new baby giraffe from the toddler giraffe. 😆 I’m 99.9% sure this was 1-year-old Tucker (with whom I share a birthday!! 🦒💜), not newborn Ivy. You can see both of the kids and the rest of the Masai population on Kilimanjaro Safaris!
