Hungry for some down-home cooking? The Wittmond Hotel & Restaurant has been serving locals and travelers in Calhoun County for over five generations. Perched on a hill overlooking the countryside of Brussels, Illinois, the historic building, founded by German immigrant Conrad Wittmond and still operated by his descendants, is comprised of a 15-room hotel, a full bar, and a family-style restaurant with made-from-scratch dishes.

Though the hotel rooms are no longer in operation, the bar and restaurant still welcome diners. There are no menus to fuss over- just delicious traditional food made in house with local ingredients!

Try Wittmond's renowned fried chicken or roast beef paired with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, chicken & dumplings, sausage, beets, corn salsa, rolls, peach marmalade, and finish with a house-made slice of pie, orange sherbet, or freshly made vanilla ice cream. It doesn't get much better- but don't forget cash or a check at this traditional restaurant- or you might get stuck doing the dishes! (don't worry, there's an ATM nearby!)
