Join us on Thursday, August 27th for the next installment of the Gears & Beers Cruise-In!

Join us for an evening of classic cars, local shopping, great food, and community fun in historic Downtown Harlan. Whether you're bringing a ride to show off or simply coming to enjoy the atmosphere, we hope you'll spend the evening with us.

✨ This month we're giving away THREE $100 door prizes!
🚘 Two $100 prizes will be awarded to registered vehicles.

You bring the gears for the cruise-in, and Harlan County Beer Company co-hosts the event with Harlan Tourism! That's where the name comes from.

Gears & Beers is a free, family-friendly community event. Alcohol is not permitted on the streets or throughout the event and is only available inside Harlan County Beer Company. If you choose to enjoy a beverage, please do so responsibly! We'll see you in Downtown Harlan!

Looking for something fun to do during Dog Days of Kentucky? Make plans to stop by the Harlan Center Mountain Market on Saturday, August 29th from 12 PM to 6 PM!

Browse local vendors offering everything from handmade crafts and baked goods to boutique items, home décor, jewelry, artwork, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind treasures. Whether you're shopping for a unique gift or just love supporting small businesses, there's something waiting to be discovered.

After you've grabbed a hot dog from one of the Dog Days competitors, step inside the Harlan Center, cool off, and spend some time exploring all that our Mountain Market has to offer!

The City of Harlan’s Burger Week is officially underway August 17–23, and VOTING IS NOW OPEN! It’s time to eat your way around Harlan, find your favorite, and help us crown the 2026 Burger Week People’s Choice Champion! 🏆🍔

This year, 10 participating restaurants have created their own special Burger Week burgers:

Downtown Harlan just got a little more colorful!

A brand new piece of public art went up today on the side of Henry's Souvenirs and Gifts created by the incredibly talented April Schweiss of April Drew It!

And the longer you look at it, the more Harlan County you find. 👀

From Black Mountain and our off-road adventures to local history, downtown storefronts, Cawood Ledford, Justified, and even some of the stories and folklore that make this place uniquely ours, April packed a whole lot of Harlan County into one piece of art.

Even better, this is just the beginning for this wall! It will soon become home to several of the panels being created for the Harlan ArtWalk, adding even more local art to this corner of downtown.

A HUGE thank you to April Schweiss for creating such a fun celebration of Harlan County, Darian White of Kustom FX Graphics for fabricating Aprils art on a panel and getting it installed today, and April and Paul Collins for graciously allowing us to use the side of Henry’s to make a little more room for art in Downtown Harlan.

Next time you’re downtown, walk over and take a closer look… we have a feeling you’ll spot something familiar! And stay tuned. There’s a whole lot more art coming soon!

Welcome to Burger Week! Here's a tasty menu of everything Harlan County is serving up this week!

8/17-8/23: Burger Week- It’s the tastiest week on the calendar as Harlan Tourism brings back Burger Week once again! This year, 10 restaurants will be vying for the title of Best Burger. The winner is up to you! Stop by the Harlan Center to pick up your official Burger Week Passport. Visit at least 5 of the restaurants and get your passport stamped. Return the Passport to receive your free t-shirt. You will have the opportunity to vote for your favorite burger. The burger that receives the most customer votes will walk away with the title and a cool trophy to display in their restaurant.

8/21: Outdoor Movie Night- Hoppers is coming to the top plaza of the Harlan Center on Friday August 21st around 9 p.m.! Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and settle in for a family friendly show complete with free popcorn and drinks. Don’t miss this evening with Harlan Tourism & the Harlan County Public Library.

8/22: Tri-Cities Two Man Golf Scramble- Find a partner and set out on this challenge spanning two golf courses. Tee off at Lynch Country Club at 10 a.m. and then continue on to the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course at 2 p.m. 2 courses. 32 holes. 1 championship.

8/22: Harlan County Horse Show- English Creek Stables and English Creek Horse Club present the Harlan County Horse Show on Saturday August 22nd at the Putney Shriners Fairgrounds. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m. With 18 categories, you can check out horse skills of all kinds! Seating is limited so visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
