This week is for foodies, festivals, and outdoor fun!
5/11-5/17: Dessert Week- Harlan Tourism is bringing back the sweetest week of the year. Visit participating restaurants and try their featured dessert. You’ll collect a stamp on your passport. 5 stamps gets you a free Dessert Week t-shirt! You can pick up your passport now at the Harlan Center and get ready to treat yourself all week long.
5/15: Lillian Faye Simpson Golf Classic- Support the students of SKCTC by teeing off for the Lillian Faye Simpson Golf Classic at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Cumberland. Tee times are available at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Spend the day on the course and change the lives of students in our community! The cost is $400 for a four person team.
5/16: Cyanotype Printmaking Workshop- Kentucky Natural Lands Trust invites you to Kingdom Come State Park to learn the art of cyanotype making. Participants will take a short hike to find items to use in their print. The event is free. Participants can register by visiting the KNLT page on Facebook.
5/16: The Headwaters Arts Festival- Artistic talent flows through Harlan County just like the headwaters of the Cumberland River. Celebrate this talent with the Headwaters Arts Festival at the Harlan Center on the top plaza from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. You’ll find vendors, art, and live music as you enjoy a spring afternoon!
5/16: Co****le Tournament- Cumberland Tourism is hosting their first monthly co****le tournament of the year at the Square on Main. Registration begins at 5 p.m. with play beginning at 6 p.m. The cost is $10 per person with all entry fees being awarded back out to the winning teams! For more information call (606) 589-5812.
5/16: Cruise In & Live Music- Raven Rock Coffee, Cafe, & Curiosities has a fun evening planned with a classic car cruise in and live music by Bradley Halcomb. The cruise-in starts at 5 p.m. and music begins at 6 p.m.
