Picture yourself winning $500 in a snap! The Harlan County Photography Contest is your opportunity to display your talent while also helping promote our community!

The contest is open to beginners, amateurs, and professionals. Submit up to 5 photos to [email protected] or bring a flash drive to the Harlan Center Monday-Friday 9-5. All entries must be received by noon on Friday June 19, 2026. We'll be awarding $500 for the judges pick along with $250 for the Fan Favorite as determined by Facebook likes.

This contest is focused on showcasing the beauty, excitement, and events of Harlan to visitors. Submissions that do not fit in this scope or are not suitable for promoting the area may not be included in judging. Support Harlan Tourism's Summer Concert Series and Downtown Harlan businesses and you could win $250! Each Thursday in June and July, visit a Downtown Harlan restaurant or visit the Historic Harlan Museum before coming to the concert. Write your name and phone number on your receipt or ticket stub and drop it in the bowl at the show. At the final summer concert, one lucky winner will take home $250.

We’re gearing up for another incredible Fourth Fest celebration in Downtown Harlan!

Every year, Fourth Fest brings thousands together for a full day of family fun and Appalachian celebration featuring:
🎇 Fireworks
✨ Our annual parade through downtown
🏃 The Red, White, and Zoom 5k hosted by the Harlan County High School Cross Country Boosters and Harlan Tourism
🥧 Pie eating contest
🛍 Vendors & artisan booths
🍔 Food trucks and festival food
🎶 Live entertainment and activities throughout the day

Whether you’re a handmade artisan, boutique vendor, organization, food vendor, or business looking to be part of one of Harlan County’s biggest summer celebrations, we’d love to have you join us! We are still currently accepting vendors!

Vendor spaces are limited and spots are expected to fill quickly.

Join us Thursday evenings at the Courthouse Gazebo for a summer full of live music, Appalachian talent, and evenings spent in the heart of Downtown Harlan. From country and folk to rock and contemporary Christian music - this lineup is STACKED with incredible local and regional artists!

Today’s the day! Our Summer Concert Series kicks off tonight at 6 pm with Jeri Katherine Howell followed by Chelsea Nolan and Josh Nolan at 7 pm. The first 25 attendees get a free t-shirt so arrive early! Bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle in on the Courthouse Lawn at the Gazebo for some great music. Don’t forget to visit a Downtown Harlan restaurant or the Historic Harlan Museum before the show. Put your contact info on your receipt or ticket stub and drop it in the bowl at the show for a chance to win $250 at the last concert in July.

Join us in downtown Harlan on Thursday, June 25th from 6PM to 8PM and get ready for another night of cars, community, and a packed 1st Street in front of the courthouse!

Everything from classic cars, hot rods, imports, trucks with families out and kids picking their favorites!

👉 Family friendly. Community driven.
