TRAVEL ALERT/HARLINGEN- The TxDOT Travel Information Center, at 2021 West Harrison in Harlingen, will temporarily close, beginning Friday, July 25, for building maintenance.

A tentative reopening is planned for August 5.

The local center is one of several across the state staffed with professional counselors providing current information on points of interest, events and road conditions in the state. Also provided are free maps and a variety of free statewide and local travel literature.

During the temporary closure, public restrooms and Wi-Fi will not be available. However, tourists can still access travel information by calling 1-800-452-9292 or by visiting DriveTexas.Org.

Road to Juneteenth Celebrate Freedom Festival.

June 19th, Houston, TX. The Juneteenth Houston Festival celebrates freedom and culture with events throughout June.
Throughout history this day has been commemorated to symbolize the end of slavery in the United States and is now celebrated my millions every year.
The Celebrate Freedom event is on June 1st at Emancipation Park, while the Juneteenth Festival takes place on June 14th at Houston Community College – South Campus, featuring music, exhibits, and local cuisine.
On June 19th, Freedom’s Town host Juneteenth 160 Fest, marking 160 years since its founding.
